The Houston Judging Center had an exciting March starting with the Houston Orchid Society Show on March 7. We gave four awards:

• Jean-Pierre Nguyen’s Paphiopedilum primulinum ‘Lemon Drop’ received an AM 81.
• John Cristy’s Cattlianthe Frolic ‘Jimmy’ received a JC.
• The Galveston Bay Orchid Society received the Show Trophy for their beautiful display titled “Celebrating Women in Orchids.”
• Ken Whitmire won an Artistic Certificate for his beautiful arrangement, ‘Spring Snow.’ This was the first Artistic Certificate given by HJC in 28 years!

At the monthly judging on March 15, HJC gave five awards!

• John Christy’s Paphiopedilum Butterschotch Morsel ‘Christy’.
• Brent Arnspiger presented four plants that received awards: Paphiopedilum tranlienianum ‘Arnspiger’, HCC 78; Zygoneria Grenfell’s Choice ‘Mary Ellen’, HCC 77; Zga. Grenfell’s Choice ’Sherry’, AM 85; and Paph. Magic Rainbow ‘Arnspiger’, HCC 76!

Eight HJC judges went to Houma, Louisiana, on March 22 for the Terrebonne Orchid Society Show. Six awards were given at that show.
