June 6 Meeting

Julien Baruch To Discuss Orchids of the Bulbophyllum Genera

At our next Houston Orchid Society meeting on Thursday, June 6, Julien Baruch will speak on the genera Bulbophyllum, including an overview of the latest breeding traits of the different species.

Julien Baruch has been growing orchids his whole life, but his orchid knowledge really accelerated eight years ago when he joined the Sarasota Orchid Society. Julien went on to intern at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens for The Million Orchid Project before moving to Apopka, Florida, to work at Krull-Smith, where he has been learning from Frank Smith and working on the nursery’s hybridizing for the past four years. Today, Julien also manages Krull-Smith’s sales, website, and social media.

Julien is an associate judge for the American Orchid Society at the Florida-North Central Judging Center.

Please bring your blooming plants for the show-and-tell table. The meeting begins at 7:30pm at First Christian Church, 1601 Sunset Boulevard, Houston.
