February 6 Meeting
George Vasquez to Speak on AOS Judging of Phalaenopsis
At our monthly meeting on Thursday, February 6, 2025, George Vasquez will speak about his “Personal thoughts on today’s AOS judging of Phaleanopsis.”
George Vasquez is a second-generation orchid grower of 46 years. George is proud to have worked alongside his father, Amado Vasquez, at Zuma Canyon Orchids. His father was a recipient of the IPA Lifetime Achievement Award. When his father retired, George took over the business as president of Zuma Canyon Orchids, which has received well more than 600 Phaleanopsis AOS awards.
With more than 40 years of experience as an American Orchid Society (AOS) Judge, George was voted by the AOS Board of Trustees in 2017 as an honorary Judge Emeritus. He is also a Life Member of the AOS.
Please bring your blooming plants for the show-and-tell table. The meeting begins at 7:30pm at First Christian Church, 1601 Sunset Boulevard, Houston.
