Life Member Renée Gerber Passes Away
Services to be held Monday, August 4, 2pm
With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Renée Rosmarin Gerber (Houston, Texas), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Renée Rosmarin left this world on August 1, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving a void in the lives of so many people.
Renée and her husband, Marvin, were active members of HOS for many years. They were active hybridizers of predominantly Cattleyas that bloom well in Houston’s climate, focusing on the species Brassavola nodosa, known to many as the ‘Lady of the Night Orchid’ because of its sweet fragrance exhibited in the nighttime. Together, Renée and Marvin accumulated more than 155 AOS awards and many, many orchid hybrids registered by them.
Renée was predeceased by her husband, Marvin; her parents, Sadie Rosmarin and Harry Rosmarin; and her brother, Larry Rosmarin. She is survived by her children, Andrea, Howie (Teri), and Gail Stalarow (Norman); and her grandchildren, Micah Stalarow, Logan Stalarow, Sammy Gerber, and Jason Gerber.
A burial will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. at the Proler Chapel of Congregation Emanu El (1500 Sunset Blvd, Houston, TX 77005).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Holocaust Museum of Houston (https://9368a.blackbaudhosting.com), Houston Hospice (https://www.houstonhospice.org), or the Houston Orchid Society, PO Box 66326, Houston, Texas 77266.
