Installation of Officers, Pot Luck and Orchid Auction Planned for December 1 Festivities

December’s meetings are always a bit different. Due to the “in person” nature of the activities, there will be NO ZOOM broadcast. Please attend if you can! We’ll enjoy pot luck refreshments and celebrate the season.

The program will be a live orchid auction to benefit the HOS Judging Center. A unique and quite special mix of purchased plants and donations from members will be auctioned by a “celebrity” auctioneer who is a club member. I hope everyone will come to join the bidding and banter.

The final item on the meeting agenda will be the installation of officers. I am happy to report the entire slate of officers from last year will be continuing for 2023. I look forward to working with these folks as we continue working on some important tasks that were started during my first year as president.

I recognize there are some details that were not sufficiently covered at meetings in the past year. I regret the ordering and supply of permanent name tags has not been resolved. At our December meeting, Lucy Diggons will hand out clip-on name tags at a greeter’s table. Look for this young lady next to the HOS sign at the December meeting.

In addition, there will be a sign-up sheet for refreshments for each month in the coming year. My concerns about Covid transmission are not fully calmed, but I trust that everyone will be careful and safe. James Nelson has been understanding and patient as our Refreshment Chair this year.

My vision is to increase participation from our newer members, so I am recruiting assistants for committee chairs. These are the people who make things happen during the meeting. If you enjoy the raffle, silent auction, refreshments, plant table, and a personal greeting at each meeting, there are multiple opportunities to join in the fun!
