Loren Neufeld passed away at home on April 29, 2023. He was a longtime HOS member with his wife, Judith, who survives him. Over the years Loren and Judith covered many duties, including the monthly raffle table, welcoming Newcomers Club members, and most noticeably, building the annual Houston Orchid Show exhibits at various locations from malls to the Houston Museum of Natural Science and more. One of the best highlights for them was being awarded prestigious “Silver Certificates” for high scores on the artistic merits of the HOS displays at the orchid shows.
Loren was a natural engineer who built many objects that HOS uses for exhibits to this day. His “engineering” talents were rewarded as well by his participation with the model train community in Houston.
Loren’s life will continue to be celebrated and his memory kept alive by his wife, Judith; daughter, Sharon; son, Sean (KC); grandchildren, Angelo George and Cecily Ray; cousin/“sister,” Doris; and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following organizations:
- Houston Orchid Society—The Houston Orchid Society, Inc., P.O. Box 66325, Houston, TX 77266
- Rosenberg Railroad Museum—https://www.rosenbergrrmuseum.org/donate-1
Those who were fortunate to know Loren will miss his friendship and creative eye.
