Houston Orchid Society Field Trip Planned for Sunday, May 15
As a follow-up to his March presentation on native Texas orchids, Joe Liggio will lead a field trip for Houston Orchid Society members on Sunday, May 15, to see orchids in the wild in Texas. We will visit the Watson Rare Native Plant Preserve (map below) where we will see hundreds of the Grass Pink Orchid Calopogon tuberosus in bloom. We will also see pitcher plants, other insect-eating plants, and rare wildflowers, so bring your cameras!
Here are some important logistics:
- RSVP to Stephen Gallagher by email if you plan to attend.
- We will meet at the Watson Rare Native Plant Preserve at 10:00 AM. The address is 527 County Road 4777, Warren, Texas 77664. We will be there for about 2 hours.
- No fees will be charged.
- Wear comfortable shoes. Mosquitos will probably not be bad, but bug repellent is also recommended for comfort.
- Bring water and lunch. There is a good restaurant nearby that serves a variety of foods including BBQ, catfish, and hamburgers if you prefer not to bring lunch.
