A commercial Phalaenopsis grower has agreed to guide a tour of HOS members through the nursery on Saturday, February 18, at 10:30 a.m.
This nursery produces the large white (and some colored) Phalaenopsis sold in grocery stores and places like Trader Joe’s. With greenhouse enclosures where light and temperature can be controlled, the grower is able to meet demand any day of the year simply by controlling light and temperature.
The nursery is quite a distance from downtown, so an early start and carpooling are recommended. The tour is limited to 20 people, and you must reserve a space if you wish to go. To make your reservation, send an email to Don Ghiz, after which you will receive more information about the location and potential carpooling. Remember, only 20 members can attend, so save your place soon!
