Hello all. Our Houston Judging Center met on December 21 and celebrated the holidays with a nice luncheon provided by the judges. Several visitors were present, including Stephen Gallagher, Steven Moffitt, and five judges from the Alamo Judging Center.
About eight plants were judged with two receiving awards.
Holly Miller brought in a unique Cattleya hybrid named Rhyncatlaelia Canyon Echo ‘Holly’, which received an AM/AOS of 80 pts. It had three full lavender flowers of striking beauty. Congrats, Holly.
Stephen Gallagher brought in a Clowesetum named Amazing Grace ‘Katia’, which received an HCC/AOS of 75 pts. It had very good form and color but lacked flower count and inflorescence perfection. Nevertheless, it was a nice plant, and we hope to see it next year when a bit older.
This is my last month as chair of the Houston Judging Center. I will be replaced by Randy Johnson, and I want to wish him good luck on the job.
Our next meeting will be on January 18, 2025. Visitors are welcome to attend.
