The monthly meeting of the Houston Judging Center was a business meeting. We discussed recent changes to the judging procedure plus upcoming shows and workshops. Of the 15 plants presented, one received an award:
Aeridovanda Redland Gold ‘Blushing Kiss’ (Vanda Nopporn x Aerides Lawrenceae) AM/AOS 85, presented by Laurie and Sheila Skov.
Eleven chartreuse, round, flat, well-arranged flowers and six buds on one upright, staked, 17-cm inflorescence; sepals and petals apically blushed fuchsia; lip midlobe triangular, apically reflexed, deep fuchsia, sidelobes upright, margins light fucshia; anther cap two light fuchsia spots; substance firm; texture matte.
Our next meeting will be held on the third Saturday of February (the 18th) in the same location as the HOS general meetings. Please bring plants before 11:30am. You can pre-register using our handy-dandy form on the Houston Orchid Society website.
