One of the best features of the HOS community is the possibility for experienced orchid growers to share growing tips with other members. Our “Newcomers Group” helps those who have been members for less than two years learn more about basic culture. The group meets periodically on Sunday afternoons at a local, more experienced member’s home or greenhouse. The 2025 chairperson of the group is Kar Chong, who plans the meetings and presentations. Field trips may be planned as part of Newcomers Group activities.

A wide range of topics, from beginner to advanced, may be covered. Examples include in-depth studies of orchid genera and their specific culture, disease prevention and remedies, fertilizing and watering, and how to manage a greenhouse.

If you are interested in participating in the Newcomers Group, please complete the form below, and we will send you an email with details of the next meeting.
