Things are really hopping now! The August Workshop was a great success with three awards granted, and then at our monthly judging we granted two more awards. So sit back and enjoy. Congratulations to our happy winners, and many thanks to all who gave their time, effort, and donations. The raffle each month is a lot of fun and provides for our expenses.
Personal note concerning learning and serving: You are welcome at any time to observe our judgings, in the same place as the meetings, on the third Saturday of every month, especially if you bring something for us to judge. You do not have to stay; just register your orchid online, clean her up and secure her from damage, bring her in, and go do your chores, as you like! Bring a lunch for yourself; dessert and refreshments are provided for free. We are actively seeking volunteers for CLERK (non-paying, but with many, many perks and privileges), and yes, we need NEW JUDGES! Learning to judge is a six-year process—lots of fun and work—but oh how fulfilling. See you is September.
P.S. Watch out for my article about “how wow is important in judging,” in the AOS Bulletin coming very soon!
