INTERMEDIATE GROUP

Intermediate Group Meeting 2-4 pm Feb. 28

Clown Alley Orchids
3119 Lily Street
Pasadena, TX 77505-2134
(281) 991-6841

This meeting we will be concentrating on flasking orchid seeds.  Allan Davies will be giving a presentation on an orchid lab he visited in Hawaii and he has some great pictures.  We will also learn what material and tools are needed to do your own flasking.  The March meeting will follow up with a demonstration of actually doing the flasking.

The Houston Orchid Society sponsors an Intermediate Group which consist of members that wish to do in-depth studies of orchid genera and their specific culture, disease prevention and remedies, fertilizing and watering and how to manage a greenhouse.  The group meets the fourth Sunday of each month.

If you are interested in joining the group contact  Calvin Starr calvin@kr5e.com

The Intermediate Group had two educational displays in the recent AOS Members Meeting and Show held in Houston and sponsored by the Houston Orchid Society.  The displays featured orchid diseases, how to grow Cattleyas and potting mixes and mounting materials.  Pictured below are the exhibits.
